1) DOE Office of Science Research Awards, SCGSR Program

Target Audience: Ph.D. Students

SCGSR prepares doctoral candidates for careers of critical importance to the Office of Science’s mission of transforming our understanding of nature and advancing the energy, economic, and national security of the United States. Participants receive world-class training and access to state-of-the-art facilities, expertise, and resources at DOE's National Laboratories. Awardees work on research projects to address critical energy challenges at national and international scales. Projects in this cohort span seven Office of Science research programs, including research in artificial intelligence, quantum information science, fusion energy, and accelerator science.

Target Audience: Undergraduate Students

Each year, students from around the country participate in SULI at one of the 17 participating DOE laboratories/facilities. In this comprehensive internship, you’ll be mentored by a leading science expert who will guide you in a specific research area to gain maximum exposure to one of the many science and technology areas that underpin the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) missions. This is an opportunity for you to enhance your professional network and develop your interests in state-of-the-art research facilities and to enhance your professional network. Target Audience: Undergraduate Students

Community College students from around the country participate in CCI at one of the 17 participating Department of Energy (DOE) laboratories/facilities. In this internship, you’ll be part of a team that’s working together to advance one of the many science and technology areas that underpin the DOE mission. This is an opportunity for you to develop your knowledge and skills in a major state-of-the art facility, while discovering where your STEM interests can take you in the future! Target Audience: Faculty

Designed for full-time faculty members from institutions historically marginalized in STEM research, the Visiting Faculty Program (VFP) is your opportunity to enhance your research competitiveness and the innovative STEM learning you bring to students through a funded collaborative experience with a Department of Energy (DOE) national laboratory.  2 Tracks: VFP Research Collaboration and VFP Teaching Initiative.  In both tracks, you’ll team with DOE scientists and engineers at one of the 15 participating DOE national laboratories to advance scientific impact and discovery through a research project of mutual interest. VFP is a 10-week collaborative experience offered during the summer.
